Fort Myers wildlife control tip of the month:

Will a squirrel in the attic have a nest of babies?

This is one of those questions that can easily be answered in one word – yes. That is the short answer to this question, but to make sure that the answer is understood there needs to be some elaboration.

Squirrels are like any other creature. When they are having their young they want to ensure that they are doing so in the safest place possible. Predators will see those little squirrel babies as the perfect dinner treat, and so leaving them out in the open is like asking for a coyote, fox, owl, or other meat eater to help themselves.

Consider that a human mom would not have her baby out in the middle of Yankee Stadium. She would go to a place where she could protect the baby, especially once it was born.

Squirrels are just as protective of their young as any other animal is. They want to ensure that the place they have their little squirrel pups is safe, especially considering that at times the mother may have to leave to go and find food.

What this means is that the mother is going to find the ideal place to have her litter. That ideal location may be your attic. Think about how perfect it would be. First of all, your attic is a very secluded area. If you are like most people you may not go into it but once or twice a year. This means that they can live in the attic with nearly complete peace and quiet from Fort Myers animal trapping.

Peace, quiet and seclusion, also means that there will likely be no predators around. This means that the squirrel can have the babies without concerns. That is one of the primary instincts that a mother has – to protect her young, and your attic may the perfect location.

Also consider that there is a host of materials in your attic that can be used for various purposes. The most important of these is your insulation and any clothing that you may have stored in the attic. The insulation may be dangerous for Fort Myers exterminators to breathe in, but the squirrel does not care about that at all. They see a big pink ocean of stuff to lay in that would make the perfect bed. Add to it some old socks, a dress, or a few blouses and you really got something there.

These are the primary reasons why a squirrel will see your attic as the perfect place to have babies and hide from Fort Myers wildlife removal, and you can be sure that if they have the chance your attic will be a nursery.
